Reddit: A Marketers New Best Friend

Why should you consider adding Reddit to your marketing plan? It’s simple. High inventory, low competition. Reddit has around 430 million monthly active users but only brought in around $428 million in revenue in 2022 (compared to Meta’s $115 billion in 2021). Given the fact that it’s less crowded, cost per click (CPC) is relatively low.

Reddit’s 430 million monthly active users are considered highly engaged. Reddit tends to stay out of the news and so it makes sense that it has a higher retention rate than other platforms. The audience tends to trend towards men between the ages of 18-29. With the tech-focus of the platform, you’ll see more of a college-educated group of users.

Our favorite part of Reddit is that the target can be very broad or very niche. With the ability to target by subreddits, you’re able to narrow your audience down. For example, if you’re looking to target users with an interest in public theatre, you can target users visiting and/or subscribed to r/theatre, r/theatrememes, r/theatrenews, r/broadway, r/techtheatre and more. Layer on some geographical targeting and you can get in front of the ideal potential customer.

Overall, Reddit is a unique social platform that offers great benefits that aren’t replicated elsewhere. Reddit advertising is cheap, low-funnel traffic with a highly-engaged audience and wildly specific targeting. It's our new best friend!
